Joe was murdered by former friends and acquaintances on June 27, 1844. If you’ve been deceived into believing that the mob that rushed the Carthage jail consisted of people who  didn’t  know Joe intimately, you’re probably either a member of the LDS/Mormon Church, or a member of one of the other sects that believe in the  Book of Mormon .
